IDENTITY PAPERS TO ENTER ITALY
Because of the Schengen treaty it is not necessary to produce a personal identity paper travelling among the 13 countries of the European Union (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden). There are no more borders in between these countries. Anyway it is strongly recommended to the travellers to bring their personal identity paper in order to avoid any inconveniences.
For those who arrive to Italy from a European Union country not included in the Schengen area and from Croatia, Island, Liechtenstein, Macedonia, Norway, Swiss and ore, it is necessary to produce the passport arriving at the airport or at the Italian border.For those who arrive to Italy coming from non E.U. countries it is necessary to produce a valid passport. It is strongly recommended to keep at hand your passport in order to be able to produce it in any circumstance during the whole stay. |
